I don’t know if this particular pile of rocks has a name attached to it but I like to call it the Spires. Typically, photographers will hike around to the other side of the Spires and wait for the late afternoon/early evening sun to color the rocks orange before making their photographs. Landscape photographers just love their color, don’t they? I like color in many of my photographs, too, but I can’t hike so I’m stuck making my photographs from the driver’s seat of my car. That’s just the way it is, which goes a long way toward explaining why this particular photograph is just another pile of rocks in the desert instead of something more special. But I like it. It’s a pretty good representation of what you would have seen if you were standing there next to me when I made the photograph.
