Rain drops covered the leaves and the leaves were shimmering in the early morning light because of it. I don’t know the plant’s name but I liked it immediately. It was growing ≈ 7000′ near Big Bear Lake in southern California’s San Bernardino Mountains. It was a cold morning, but not cold enough to snow. I’d been out driving around since before dawn. The on again off again rain was making me want to be back home sitting next to the fireplace. It was also making me not want to grab my tripod and get out of the truck to take a decent photo of the plant. Instead, I shot through the driver’s side window.
