Ground squirrels have apparently decided that plastic storage containers are merely suggestions, not actual barriers, and they have been chewing their way through them with the determination of tiny furry burglars. After discovering that even a supposedly secure container is no match for their teeth, I finally surrendered and stored the birds’ peanuts in a metal can instead. The squirrels may be clever, persistent, and equipped with industrial-strength incisors, but now they have met their greatest adversary: the humble tin can.
