Patience

Patience (something I’ve only recently developed) is considered a virtue because it helps us remain calm and thoughtful when things don’t happen as quickly or easily as we would like. Instead of reacting with frustration, patience gives us the ability to pause, think clearly, and respond appropriately. It helps us deal with difficult people, unexpected delays, setbacks, and situations beyond our control without making matters worse. Patience also reminds us that many worthwhile things—learning a skill, building relationships, reaching goals, or simply getting through a doctor’s waiting room—take time. In short, patience is a virtue because it keeps us from letting a temporary inconvenience turn into a permanent headache.
