When I invert a photograph, every color is mathematically reversed—light becomes dark, dark becomes light, and each hue shifts toward its complementary color. Reds move toward cyan, greens toward magenta, and blues toward yellow, often producing colors that feel strange or unexpected. What interests me most is how this technical change completely alters the emotional character of the image. Familiar subjects become less literal, textures and patterns become more noticeable, and an ordinary scene can begin to feel dreamlike or abstract. I see inversion not simply as an effect, but as a way of discovering a second image within the first—one created from the same photograph, yet capable of expressing an entirely different mood and way of seeing.
