Wand Flowers

Wand Flower (Oenothera lindheimeri) — previously classified under the genus Gaura, specifically as Gaura lindheimeri, but was reclassified in the early 2000s — is an airy perennial known for its delicate white flowers held on long, slender stems that seem to dance with the slightest breeze. Native to parts of Texas and Louisiana, it blooms generously through the warmer months, bringing a light, almost floating quality to the garden. The flowers gradually fade to soft pink as they age, adding subtle variation among the blooms. Its graceful form and long flowering season make Wand Flower especially attractive in naturalistic gardens, where it can sway freely among grasses and other sun-loving plants.
