California Buckwheat Abstract

California buckwheat is a perfectly respectable native plant, but I decided it needed a little artistic excitement. With some creative processing, a few liberties with color, and a willingness to abandon reality, an ordinary photograph of dried buckwheat blossoms became something resembling an impressionist painting. The buckwheat probably doesn’t recognize itself anymore, but I like to think it’s enjoying its brief career in abstract art.
