Red Tip Photinia (Photinia × fraseri)

Rain brings out the contrast in red tip photinia, deepening the red of the new growth and the green of the mature leaves. Water droplets collect along the glossy surfaces and serrated edges, emphasizing the color and texture of the foliage. These plants had recently been cut back, so much of the red growth in the photograph is fresh foliage emerging after pruning.
