Casa Del Desierto

Casa del Desierto, the historic Harvey House in Barstow, California, was built by the Santa Fe Railway after an earlier depot and hotel burned in 1908. The present building opened in 1911 and served railroad passengers during the era when Barstow was an important stop on the Santa Fe line. In this photograph, the building’s light-colored arcade provides a strong contrast with its red brick walls.
