Eastern Sierra By Van

For years I loved camping and photographing around Bishop and the Eastern Sierra in my Ford Econoline. It gave me the freedom to follow the light instead of a schedule. The van carried my camera gear, food, and camping supplies while also providing a simple place to sleep after a long day exploring Highway 395, the Owens Valley, and the back roads stretching toward the Sierra Nevada and White Mountains. Mornings often began with cold desert air and the first light touching the peaks, while evenings were spent watching the shadows lengthen across the valley. Traveling this way made photography feel wonderfully uncomplicated: find an interesting road, pull over when something catches the eye, make a photograph, and keep going until it feels like a good place to stop for the night.
