One of the first Chinese dishes I was introduced to was kung pao chicken. It was delicious. And it was loaded with hot peppers. It was at a small Thai restaurant on the west side of town called Sawadee, run by Carlos and Manee, a friendly husband and wife team, along with their four young children. Five tables with chairs on an open floor, kitchen in the back. Before it was Sawadee it was a take out place called the Pail O’ Chicken and had a fifteen foot plastic chicken on the roof. Carlos and Manee kept it. You couldn’t miss the place. They have since closed the restaurant and returned to Thailand. I was sorry to see them go.
