Along old Route 66 in Oro Grande, California, the weathered remains of the abandoned Mohawk Mini-Mart are a reminder of a time when National Trails Highway carried a steady stream of travelers through the Mojave Desert. Buildings like this were once part of the network of small businesses serving travelers along the highway. Today the closed storefront remains beside the old route, largely unchanged from when I photographed it.
