Monte Cristo Sandwich

The Monte Cristo sandwiches at most restaurants today are weak imitations (like this one) of the Monte Cristo sandwiches I grew up with. They’re too often just dry slices of ham and turkey between a couple slices of poorly made French toast. Rarely will I order one when I’m at a restaurant and see it on the menu. My kitchen isn’t equipped a deep fryer to cook a Monte Cristo the right way so I guess I’m out of luck when it comes to enjoying a Monte Cristo like the ones of my youth.
