Photinia is best known for the brilliant red flush of its new growth, but its older leaves can be every bit as photogenic. An aging photinia leaf from our yard, photographed after its color had begun to change from the uniform green of mature foliage. The mottled reds, yellows, greens, and browns mark a later stage in the leaf’s life cycle and give the surface considerably more variation than a newly formed leaf.
