Red Tip Photinia (Photinia × fraseri)

Red Tip Photinia (Photinia × fraseri) is a fast-growing evergreen shrub prized for its brilliant red new foliage, which gradually matures to dark green. In spring, it produces clusters of small white flowers followed by red berries that can attract birds. The flowers are important to bees and other pollinators because their small white blossoms produce nectar and pollen during spring, providing an important food source when many pollinating insects are actively searching for nourishment. Bees, including honeybees and native solitary bees, visit the numerous flowers clustered along the branches, while butterflies, hoverflies, and other beneficial insects may also be attracted to them. Often used as a hedge or privacy screen, it tolerates pruning well and thrives in sunny to partly shaded locations, making it a popular landscape plant in mild climates.
