He kicks, he scores!

The best action at a youth soccer game doesn’t always happen on the field. Along the sidelines, there’s often another game taking place—kids chasing loose balls, copying the older players, and turning open patches of grass into their own private stadium. Dressed a little more formally than the usual soccer uniform, this young player seems completely absorbed in the moment, lining up his kick while the adults in the background look on. It’s a simple scene, but one that captures the spontaneity and pure enjoyment that make youth sports such a pleasure to photograph.
