Wand Flower

The wand flower (Gaura lindheimeri) gets its common name from its long, slender flowering stems, which resemble graceful wands topped with delicate blossoms. The botanical name Gaura comes from a Greek word meaning “superb” or “splendid,” while lindheimeri honors Ferdinand Jacob Lindheimer, a 19th-century German-American botanist who collected and studied plants extensively in Texas, where the species is native.
