The rocks and boulders of Joshua Tree National Park are every bit as distinctive as the trees themselves. Huge rounded granite formations rise from the desert in stacks, walls, and isolated piles, often looking as though they were carefully placed there by hand. Weathering and erosion gradually shape exposed rock into the rounded boulders and irregular formations seen here. I was interested in the repetition of those forms across the landscape and photographed a section where the individual rocks could be seen clearly against one another.
